I cut the white wire with the purple stripe on it and put a rocker switch in that line. I can shut off all the interior and running board lights off when the rear hatch is open. The rest of the doors still function as always even with the switch in the off position. It took me under 25 min to install and it has been there for 3 yaers.To remove the switch just unplug the harness and remove the one screw holding it in. This is what it looks like when you remove it. This is the switch totally removed. For me the switch was totally bad. Even though the pin at the top moved in and out freely the door ajar light stayed on.When the door is opened it comes on and won't go off until after the engine is stopped and all the doors closed. It stays on at least 1/2 an hour after that. All the other doom lights work according to plan, i.e. they turn off after 60 seconds after the key is off and the door shut.
